Ben Miethke

Ben Miethke's work is defined by his quest for purity and his exploration of the essence of humanity. Sometimes, he tackles big universal questions, other times, he focuses on small emotions, but always with the aim of capturing a subtle human sensation.

Growing up in the heart of the abandoned steel district of Krefeld-Stahldorf, he drew inspiration from the rivalry between local football teams for his directorial debut, Roll the Old Chariot. The two districts shared a frozen isolation, which he transposed onto two rugby teams battling on a remote Irish island, where they ultimately find a small victory in defeat.

He graduated from the prestigious Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg, exploring deconstructed storytelling through two works: the triptych Isolated Protagonists and the episodic film Dasein und Sein.

Ben is currently based in Berlin, Germany.
