Jonas Vahl

Jonas is a German director born in Berlin. He graduated from the University of Arts Berlin and the renowned talent pool of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. With his distinctive sense for aesthetics and emotion he strives for the unseen every time. Jonas developed a fascination for single artifacts and technical ideas that lead to a range of always personal and compelling work.

In 2017, he had his first success with a music video for Pantha du Prince, spearhead of German minimalist experimental electronic music and his track «Jupiter’s Delight». The music video, shot in the Mongolian steppes together with DOP Maximillian Pittner -met at the Academy -, explores the notion of infinity, through time, space and circular figure. It was released exclusively on Nowness and won numerous awards.

In 2021, Jonas’ film Hermès H08 was nominated Best Direction, Bes Cinematography and Best VFX/Animation at Berlin Commercial. The film was also nominated Best Art Direction and Best Fashion Film at the Berlin Fashion Film Festival. The same year, his short film 1608 premiered at Malta Film Festival.

His very conceptual background in arts and his ongoing evolution as an artist allows him to target ideas on a deeper level. Jonas is based in Paris.

His clients include Hermès, Mercedes Benz, Nike, Biotherm, Ami, and Pantha du Prince.
